Day 473
Day 473
King James Version (KJV)
Amos 5:18-7:6
5:18Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. 5:19As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. 5:20Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it? 5:21I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. 5:22Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. 5:23Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. 5:24But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. 5:25Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? 5:26But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves. 5:27Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
7:1Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.7:2And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.7:3The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.7:4Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.7:5Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.7:6The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.
Matthew 26:47-56
47And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.48Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.49And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.50And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.51And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.52Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.53Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?54But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?55In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.56But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
